Brainwave Control and Meditation: Create Your Virtual Reality in the Hypnogogic State

Brainwave Control and Meditation: Create Your Virtual Reality in the Hypnogogic State

As the green blob comes hurtling at you, sweating and trembling, you take the laser gun and zap it. Then, you watch in amazement as the monster that has haunted your dreams since childhood shrivels up and shape shifts into a pink butterfly.

While this is the realm of fantasy for many, for meditators who have taken control of the hypnogogic state it is a real state.

The hypnogogic state is one of the most powerful states one can achieve. Also called lucid dreaming, with the help of brainwave control methods such as brainwave entrainment, it is easier to enter this state and take control, even of your fantasies and worst nightmares.

Rather than passively observe your meditations, choose to actively direct them and create your own virtual reality.

How to Create Your Virtual Reality

The best way to enter your meditation or dream is to take control. This is different from brainwave control, which is focused on achieving a deep state of meditation.

Like a director of a film, you can control your actions by directing them. If you act just like a director, you will increase the chance of getting results. For example, rather than simply think, I want to zap the monster, say: "Now, I am going to zap the monster." Creating your own reality in dreams is called dream spinning, and it works in meditation, too.

Start to gain control by establishing the intent of your meditation in advance. Face your fears head on. A lot of research is being done on facing our worst nightmares and fears.

A Safe Place to Conquer Your Fears

When we start to break down our nightmares or fears, they become less and less scary. The monster that chases you out of the office is really the fear of not meeting sales quotas and being fired. By focusing on honing your sales skills, or simply committing to improving your sales skills, you can look the monster in the eye, zap him and force him to exit your dream. Virtual reality is a safe place to take on monsters, and even bad bosses.

Improving dream recall can enhance your meditation experience in the hypnogogic state. Meditations, like dreams, are often connected, but not always. It is a good idea to keep a meditation journal. Note story lines, symbols, images, and so forth, and observe how they develop.

Dream recall is an important part of your personal development. Remember that your subconscious mind is talking to you in meditation and dreams. Messages are likely to be obvious but cryptic so do not disregard anything. A red circle may seem irrelevant to you at the time of the meditation but write it down anyways. You will be surprised at how often these seemingly unimportant images come to have great significance.

The important thing to remember is that the ability to control your visualizations in the lucid state provides opportunities to solve problems, address fears and work on personal development. Your meditation may lead you deeper into the scenario you imagined or it may take you somewhere else altogether. Enjoy the journey and remember to stay alert.
